That's our kitchen trash being composted by worms. I am officially a worm-farmer. I purchesed a worm-condo and made a comfy home for our new guests. So far, they have eaten about 5-7lbs of our trash. One pound of worms can recycle a pound of trash into usable garden compost every day! Right now I have about 2 pounds in there. They double their population every month so hopefully soon we will be able to recycle all of our kitchen scraps and leftovers and a lot of our paper waste this way. Will keep you posted!
P.S. No, it doesn't stink!
